Nathan Timothy
Chief Executive

“Nathan has an extraordinary ability to motivate children by breathing life into their musical creativity and encouraging them to believe in themselves.”

Guy Fletcher OBE FRSA, Patron of Nathan Timothy Foundation -The Songwriting Charity

Nathan graduated from Goldsmiths College in 1996 with a BA(Ed)Hons and then went on to have a very successful 11 year teaching career working in Outstanding Primary Schools in Bexley, Bromley and Greenwich Boroughs as a Primary Sports Specialist and Creative Arts Manager. He also worked closely with Southbank University and the University of Greenwich supporting and mentoring newly qualified teachers.

Passionate about the craft of songwriting, the art of music production and always committed to delivering the highest quality teaching, he set up Bullybeat - Songwriting/Music production workshops in January 2007. Nathan also signed a publishing deal with Moncur Street Music Publishing Ltd and released his 4th studio album ‘Graffiti’ on his 3foot6 Record label.

In July 2008 he joined forces with the award winning children’s charity Beatbullying where he worked as their music manager and leading music practitioner working face to face with 7,500 children creating over 300 brand new anti-bullying songs in the UK and Europe, generating over 200,000 downloads from the apple iTunes store. In this period Nathan also produced and released his 5th studio album ‘Living From A Suitcase’.

Nathan Timothy Foundation - "The Songwriting Charity" was set up in July 2011. In 2012 the charity was awarded the Official Olympic Inspire Mark by LOCOG for its 'Sports Tracks' songwriting programme. In 2013 Nathan set up 'Project K' in memory of his sister Kate. Totally funded by the charity, the team delivered the 'Master Peace' songwriting programme in Welsh schools during June and July culminating in a very special concert at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff where videos featuring the children's original songs were played in HD on a big screen.

Since its formation the Songwriting Charity team have worked in hundreds of schools - working face to face with over 90,000 children - inspiring and engaging them to learn about music and feel good about themselves through the songwriting process.

In August 2014, Nathan released his 6th studio album 'Spinning Plates' to celebrate his 20 year anniversary as a songwriter.

In October 2016, Nathan was awarded a Gold Badge by BASCA for "inspiring and empowering a whole generation of children and young people through music." The BASCA Gold Badge Awards have been presented for over forty years and honour those who have worked tirelessly to support the British songwriting and composing community.

Nathan is a proud husband and father of 2 boys. He loves writing, comedy, athletics, watching films, meeting new people, spending time with his family and telling stories that make people laugh.
