Mel Lewis

Chair of Trustees

Mel was born on 21st June 1956 at Hackney, East London, just out of earshot of Bow Bells, so not a true cockney, but close! Moving to north London at age 7, he went to local schools and ended up going to the London College of Print and went into the family print business.

With an eye for innovation, he moved in to media with his first job at the fledgling commercial radio station, LBC. It was not long before he had his own advertising agency Media Match which soon expanded into the newly opened area of brand sponsorship. Clients included the Milk Marketing Board – The Milk Race and The Army Parachute team. Seeing opportunities in new technology he soon was involved with giant screens and installed them in Heathrow Airport, Manchester Airport, Dusseldorf Airport, Asda Superstores and several British Rail Stations.

Continuing his thirst for innovation, Mel was also given charge to set up Cable TV advertising in the UK and became MD of Independent Cable Sales, the cable industry’s sales operation. Other areas that Mel has helped launch are WAP.com; 3d barcoding, mobile marketing and online display. He currently heads up the EMEA operation for the world’s biggest online humour site and worlds 3rd biggest digital network for Break Media.

Mel has 2 grown up children, is actively involved with various charities and sits on the committee for Habad. He enjoys listening to and playing music and is a keen cyclist.
